Rideshare Startup Scores High in First Few Months
San Diego - San Diego-based rideshare startup Bounce has won the Big Idea Pitch competition, Excelerate America, the award’s sponsor, announced this week.
Out of the many startups that participated, Bounce made it to the top five and beat the four other finalists from around the U.S. to capture this year’s award, said Excelerate America, which provides resources, connections and education for small business.
“We had some great entries, but the Bounce community really showed up and carried them on to victory. It was amazing to see the response for this innovative enterprise.” said Roy Lamphier, founder and CEO of Excelerate America.

The competition carries a $3,000 prize and recognition of innovative features.
Bounce is better known for emphasis on safety. Safety is number one priority at Bounce. The company broke with its competition when it called for legislation requiring all rideshare drivers to undergo fingerprint background checks performed by the Department of Justice. Bounce has a first-of-its-kind “Panic Button” on its app and numerous other policies and procedures all designed to provide the safest environment for its riders and drivers.
Bounce is a new rideshare company currently operating only in San Diego County and has had early success. The company is already the official rideshare partner for the premier entertainment venue in San Diego, Valley View Casino Center, where Pink and Elton John will be performing this year.
