More adults are now obese than underweight around the world, padding weight loss profits as people look for options.

Research led by scientists at Imperial College London and published in The Lancet discovered that the number of obese people worldwide had increased from 105 million in 1975 to 641 million in 2014. Comparatively the number of underweight people had increased from 330 million to 462 million over the same time period.

Some dietary supplements quickly help to take the pounds off while others are not as effective. A weight loss of up to two pounds a week is considered safe.

Consumers should be aware of ingredients. Among the most effective are B vitamins including B1, B2, B5, B6 and B12 that convert carbohydrates and fat into energy. Other suggested ingredients include chromium, which helps regulate blood glucose levels, and Hoodia Gordinii, which helps to prevent hunger.
